About Taiwan 關於台灣
Taiwan formerly known as Formosa, and officially the Republic of China (ROC), and Taipei is the capital city.
A small island with the shape look like a leaf some said it looked like "sweet potatoes", anyway is narrow at both ends (North and South) with the total area of about 36,100 Sq. Km., lies in the South East of Mainland China separates by the Taiwan Strait, to the North there is Japan, to the South, Philippines. Taiwan is about one third of West Malaysia (Peninsular Malaysia), 50 times bigger than Singapore and about 35 times bigger than Hong Kong in size.
Taiwan is the world fourth highest island. The highest poin is YuSHan (Jade Mountain 玉山) at 3,952 meters. Two third of the island are consist in the rugged lush hills and mountains of the Central Range, the remaining one third which is the western part along the Taiwan Strait is flat and terraced and is home to most of Taiwan people.
